Students’ Union Voice Zone Assistant:
Rate of pay: £11.50 per hour (Students’ Union level 2 rate)
Hours of work: Normal expectation between 8 and 15 hours per week.
The Students’ Union is recruiting for a part-time member of student staff to join Voice Zone Team.
The Union’s Voice Zone is responsible for ensuring that the Union, University and beyond are acting on student opinion. The Voice Zone organises the annual election process, known as Surrey Decides, and also supports the facilitation of democratic activity. The Voice Zone leads the Course Representation system in partnership with the University. The Voice Zone also leads on the collection and interpretation of data in student satisfaction, via the Pulse survey.
The role of Voice Zone Assistant involves supporting the Students’ Union’s full-time Voice Zone team with administration, research and the organisation of the Zone, including producing notes from meetings and supporting the organisation of events and campaigns. The role involves working as part of a team and individually, and can be done in a hybrid manner in agreement with the Student Voice Manager and Student Voice Coordinator.
Skills and experience required:
- Experienced with Microsoft tools with specific focus on Outlook (essential)
- A keen interest in the student experience and acting on student feedback (essential)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (essential)
- Reliable, punctual and highly organised (essential)
- Experience of customer service in a customer facing role (desirable)
- Strong understanding of the role and purpose of the Students’ Union (desirable)
