Location: Hybrid- University Campus and WFH

Role Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Student Equality Network and collaborate closely with the VP Voice, the Voice Zone, the Student Equality Network team, and Subnetwork Leaders to drive meaningful change. You will act as a representative for the Student Equality Network and all University of Surrey students, advocating for their interests and promoting inclusivity across the student experience. This is an ideal position for those passionate about making a difference and interested in taking on future leadership positions or EDI roles.
Responsibilities:
· Chair the monthly Student Equality Network Meetings
· Coordinate the Student Equality Network and act as the main point of contact for broader feedback which may need escalating to the Union or University
· Support the VP Voice in leading awareness campaigns to celebrate student diversity and lived experience
· Collaborate with the Student Equality Network members, VP Voice, and Union staff to plan and organise events and activities that align with student interests and goals
· Participate in Social Media content to support and promote the networks
· Promote the Student Equality Network to increase involvement, engagement and membership
· Provide and present updates on the Network’s progress to the Network, students, the Students’ Union, and University representatives as needed
· Assist in the delivery of the ‘My Lived Experience Project’
Person Specification
Essential:
- Registered as a University of Surrey Student
- Commitment to devoting the necessary time and attention to the role
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and removing barriers to equality of opportunity
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups.
- Engage in social media and Network content
Desirable:
- Experience in leadership, public speaking, and/or student representation (eg. Course Rep, Club & Society signatories, Student Ambassador)
