Hours: 2 hours per week (Approximate, Flexible)

Pay: £12.21 per hour

Location: Hybrid- University Campus and WFH

Duration: October 2025- June 2026

Role Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Student Equality Networks and collaborate closely with the VP Voice, the Voice Zone, the Student Equality Network team and Subnetwork Leaders to drive meaningful change. The Secretary's role is integral to the smooth running of the network, ensuring everyone is informed, meetings are productive and records are properly maintained. This role is ideal for anyone looking for experience in project management, administration or EDI activity.

Responsibilities of Role:

  • Attend all Network and Subnetwork meetings to take minutes and share these in a timely manner
  • Maintain and regularly update the Network Action Log, ensuring accountability by tracking progress and following up with staff and student members.
  • Send reminders to Network Leaders and members about upcoming meetings, deadlines and events.
  • Assist with updating the Website Calendar and scheduling meetings as required.
  • Provide administrative support for the Student Equality Network Teams channel, ensuring it remains organised and up to date.
  • Collaborate with the Student Voice Coordinator on project evaluation and reporting tasks.
  • Share relevant updates on the Network’s progress with students, Network members, the Student Union and University representatives as needed.

Essential:

  1. Registered as a University of Surrey Student 
  2. Commitment to devoting the necessary time and attention to the role 
  3. Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and removing barriers to equality of opportunity 
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups.
  5. Excellent time management and attention to detail.

Desirable:

  1. Experience and/or interest in administration and project management
